VCU Graduation Photos with Best Friends | Richmond Photographer | Hannah Louise Photo

Graduation sessions at Virginia Commonwealth University always carry awesome energy—but this one? This one felt like pure joy from start to finish.

As a Richmond photographer, I get to witness a lot of milestones, but there’s something really special about a Richmond graduation session shared between best friends. This was about some cute photos with their caps and gowns— but, it was also about celebrating years of late nights, growth, laughter, and the kind of friendship that sticks long after college ends.

A Richmond Graduation Session That Felt Like Freedom

When people think about graduation photos, they often picture stiff poses, perfect posture, and forced smiles. That’s just… not how I do things at Hannah Louise Photo.

My approach as a Richmond photographer is simple:
you should feel like yourself.

That means we’re not standing in one spot smiling at the camera for an hour. Instead, we’re:

  • running across the street between shots

  • spinning in circles in those iconic VCU rolling entrances

  • wandering wherever the light pulls us

  • laying in a field, laughing until it doesn’t feel like a photoshoot anymore

  • and yes—popping champagne bottles to celebrate everything you’ve accomplished

Because your graduation photos should feel like a memory, not a performance.

Exploring VCU Campus with Your Best Friend

There’s something so meaningful about choosing to do your VCU graduation photos together. These two made the entire session feel effortless—hyping each other up, fixing each other’s caps, and turning every little moment into something worth capturing.

Exploring VCU campus with them felt less like work and more like tagging along on one last adventure before everything changes. Every corner held a memory, and every laugh felt genuine.

This is exactly why I love what I do as a Richmond photographer. It’s not just about documenting what something looked like—it’s about preserving what it felt like.

Why Your Richmond Graduation Photos Should Feel Like You

If you’re planning your own Richmond graduation session, here’s what I want you to know:

You don’t have to fit into a box.

You don’t have to pose perfectly.

You don’t have to know what to do with your hands.

You just have to show up, be present, and let yourself enjoy it.

At Hannah Louise Photo, I guide you the whole way so you feel comfortable, at ease, and actually excited to be in front of the camera. The best photos happen when you forget the camera is even there.
