There’s something so special about those first moments right after getting engaged—the adrenaline, the laughter, the “wait… this just happened” feeling. This rooftop moment at Quirk Hotel was exactly that.

I had just finished a styled shoot with Blue Sage Bridal on the rooftop in September 2025 when I heard that a couple had just gotten engaged upstairs. I switched out my SD card and ran back up—because those “just got engaged” jitters and butterflies deserve to be documented.

Ashley and Matt were so giddy and fully in it. The kind of energy you can’t pose or recreate. The sunset that night was one of the best in Richmond, and Quirk’s rooftop had everything—string lights, a soft city glow, and that easy, romantic vibe that makes Richmond engagement sessions feel so effortless.
